More Fruit Constipation Remedies Part II

Here are some more constipation remedies using fruits. Try to get your organic fruits and eat them as soon as possible. The longer you keep fruits, without using them, the less enzymes and nutrients they have.

Apricots

Apricots are one of most nutritious fruits since they are high in fiber, vitamin A, C, potassium, and have many other minerals. One apricot has around 1000 IU of vitamin A. This vitamin is mainly in the form of the precursor beta-carotene.

Apricots have a laxative effect and are usually available during the summer. Dried apricots are also good and are much higher in vitamin A and in minerals.

Use dried apricots that have not been dried with sulfur dioxide. Some people are allergic to sulfur dioxide and it is considered a pollutant that is found in our air. This chemical is a preservative that prevents apricots from turning brown.

If you have an ulcer, eating apricots with sulfur dioxide can increase your stomach acid and aggravate it.

Avocado with Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon

Heres a recipe that will make you go to the bathroom in a couple of hours.

Peel 1-2 avocados
Add a little sea salt
3-4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (to taste)
1-2 tablespoons of lemon (to taste)
Mix all together and spread on your favorite crackers
Have a good time eating

Yes, avocados are high in fat but they contain fat that is good for you, monounsaturated. In 4 oz., half of an avocado contains 500mg of potassium and folate.

Bananas

Bananas are rich in potassium. They assist in healing open wounds in the interior body membranes. They are helpful in stopping diarrhea and at the same time in promoting bowel movements.

Eat two bananas on an empty stomach followed by a glass of distilled water. After your constipation is cleared, eat only one banana each day.

Blueberries

Blue berries can act as a laxative for some people despite its use to stop diarrhea. These berries have chemicals, anthocyanosides that can kill bacteria and viruses

Blueberries are also good for reducing inflammation. This makes them good for inflammations that occur all along the gastrointestinal tract.

Boysenberries

Boysenberry juice has a gentle natural laxative action on your bowel. When your constipation is not extra serious this juice will help move things in your colon.

Cantaloupe

Cantaloupe is one of best fruits you can eat. It contains many minerals and has Vitamin A and C. It is high in potassium. It has plenty of fiber and is useful for constipation.

Cherries

Cherries are high in potassium, fiber, and many other minerals, which are effective in neutralizing body acid. They contain vitamins B-1, B-2, folic acid and niacin.

Cherries have a laxative effect and can start peristaltic action.

Eat fresh cherries throughout the day or drink 3 glasses, 8 oz, of cherry juice during the day. Buy cherry juice in glass container. Eating and drinking cherries like this has kept me from having constipation. Cherries are usually only available during the summer, but you can buy cherry juice anytime.

Dried cherries can also be used except the can be expensive. Use these fruits mention as constipation remedies and at the same time gain the benefits of their nutritional value.

Can You Beat Type 2 Diabetes

My Story Can Diabetes be Controlled

After a game of golf one day, I contracted cramps that almost overtook me, such severe cramps that consumed me for some 15 minutes before I was able to get relief. After getting them out of my legs, my arms would contract, shoulders, back, neck, indeed my whole body seem to have an attack. Sure I was tired, but I have never experienced such a painful experience before or since. I had been starting to get minor cramping while playing golf, and the attacks were starting to strike earlier in the round but I had no idea what was causing this to happen.

A couple of days later, I visited my doctor, and told him my story. He immediately stated that he thought I might have a sugar problem, but we would have to do a multitude of blood tests. I considered myself to be in excellent health, my cholesterol level was low, 48 years of age, never smoked, social drinker, a little overweight, played tennis during summer, casual golfer, grown up family, long marriage, financially OK, lots of friends, how could I possibly have a sugar problem. See how www.health4diabetes.com

The doctor asked me if anyone in my family had diabetes, and here is a key, my mother had experienced some problems with diabetes before she died at a young age of 52 years of age.

By now he was convinced, blood tests followed and two days later I was back in his office. He told me that I had Type 2 diabetes, and ran through the test results with me. He told me not to worry, many people had the disease, there is plenty of good research and treatment available, and wrote me a prescription for metformin and lipitor, the former to control glucose and insulin, the latter to control my cholesterol levels.

Home I went, and I remember how difficult it was to tell my wife the news, I felt like a condemned man.

However, my journey had begun.

I drifted through the next 3 years, not taking anything too seriously. I was still healthy enough, just got tired quickly, and mild symptoms of the disease.

I was at a party one day, and a guy I saw irregularly came up and asked why I was drinking beer. I told him my symptoms were mild, and I was sick of eating cardboard and grass!! I let him know my thoughts on my lifestyle, and how I would rather die a few years earlier than live miserably. He told me his father had recently died of the disease, and how his mother had cared for his father for 22 years. In short, he scared the daylights out of me with a description of his fathers final months. I have two daughters, both married, one expecting her first child. How could I put my wife and family through that, and was I being selfish. So I decided to do something about it.

The first thing I did was learn as much as I could about Type 2 Diabetes. I read every article I could find and there is plenty published. Go to www.diabetes4health.com to see over a 100 pages of information.

Secondly, I went onto a strict diet, and lost over 7kg in 3 months.

Thirdly, I started a regimented exercise program, 5 long hard walks of 50 minutes each, and played golf twice a week, and tennis once a week.

Guess what After my last visit to the doctor to discus the latest blood test, I am no longer diabetic. I know the disease cant be cured, but I can learn to control it better. Im looking forward to life more positively, and of becoming a grandfather for the first time.

Are You At Risk Of Contracting Diabetes

It is unbelievable, but today there are at least 20 million people living with diabetes in America and the sad part is that it was possible to prevent and heal pre-diabetes and diabetes type 2 naturally with balanced nutrition, and basic exercise.

People at risk of getting the disease drop by a staggering 60 percent if they manage to lose just 10 pounds by following a healthy diet and engage in regular exercise such as walking, according to a report published in the New England Journal of Medicine. (May 3, 2001).

Pre-diabetes

This term means that you are at risk for getting type 2 diabetes and also heart disease.

The good news is if you have pre-diabetes you can reduce the risk of getting diabetes type 2 and even return to normal blood glucose levels if you follow the guidelines in this article.

Type 2 diabetes

Formerly called adult-onset diabetes, this is the most common form of diabetes. This form of diabetes usually begins with insulin resistance, a condition in which the body cannot use insulin properly. People can develop this type of diabetes at any age and is usually associated with todays modern lifestyle of fast food, stress and no exercise.

Being overweight and inactive increases the chances of developing type 2 diabetes dramatically. Traditional treatment includes taking diabetes medicines, aspirin daily, and controlling blood pressure and cholesterol with prescription drugs.

But with modest weight loss and moderate daily physical activity, you can delay or even prevent type 2 diabetes and lead a normal life. Lets look at a few steps you can use straight away in your daily life that will make a big difference to your condition.

Strength Training - Researchers have reported a 23% increase in glucose uptake after four months of strength training. Because poor glucose metabolism is associated with adult onset diabetes, improved glucose metabolism is an important benefit of regular strength exercise.

Nowadays you do not have to live in a gym to put on functional muscle. Short High Intensity sessions performed once a week is all that is required to improve glucose metabolism and lose weight.

The strength training technique I use requires just twenty to thirty mins per week. Gone are the days of the five-day a week program with 6 to 12 sets per body part that, method has never worked. One short intense strength-training workout a week will elevate your metabolism more than you ever thought possible.

The two main components of this technique are the intensity of the exercise and the recovery after the exercise. Infrequent, short, high intensity weight training sessions, followed by the required amount of time to recover and become stronger is what is needed to increase functional lean muscle and improve glucose metabolism.

Nutrition - The way to lose body fat and maintain muscle is to have a food program for life. Quality food and more energy output are the basics you'll need to go for. Bulk foods that fill you up and don't fill you out, foods that are low in fat and sugar which aren't refined should be the ideal.

Small frequent meals should be consumed during the day each containing a little protein to maintain muscle and energy levels. Foods with vital vitamin and mineral supplements should also be taken on a daily basis. A high quality broad-spectrum vitamin and mineral supplement should also be taken on a daily basis.

As before get the calories from high quality food but if you cant, utilize a blender to make concoctions from skim milk with whatever additives you want to use, just as long as you keep count of the calories for your daily total.

Now use these blender mixtures and solid food for your daily feedings. Spread it out over many small meals a day instead of the traditional three meals a day. The way to keep track of weight loss is to buy a calorie counter and record your daily calorie intake for a week.

Exercise - Fat is burned from the body when cells oxidize to release energy in the form of exercise. When the exercise is done slowly to moderately then the majority of energy is taken from the fat stores.

The key to effective aerobic training that burns off maximum fat is long-term consistency not intensity. It doesnt matter if you run a mile, jog a mile or walk a mile you will burn exactly the same amount of calories.

The best exercise by far for the purpose of fat-loss is fast walking either indoors on the treadmill or outdoors. Other aerobic activities are the treadmill, bike, climber or any other training gear found in or out of the Gym.

Make no mistake about it you can do a lot to lower your chances of getting diabetes. By exercising regularly, reducing fat from your diet and losing weight can all help you reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes?

Diabetes - What Are The Causes?

Much has been written about Diabetes and rightfully so. Somewhere around 20-22 million Americans have it. Many countless millions more have it and don't know it. It is rapidly becoming a world wide epidemic. Many ask what are the causes of Diabetes? Here are some answers.

First of all, by way of background, Diabetes is a disease that affects the way your body uses food for energy. Normally the food you eat is broken down into a sugar called glucose. Insulin, which is produced by the pancreas, moves the glucose into your blood cells as fuel.

If you have diabetes your pancreas either doesn't make insulin at all (type 1) or the cells don't respond (type2). In either case the blood glucose levels get too high causing, over time, serious complications.

Here are some common myths. Diabetes is:

1.Not caused by eating sweets. Eating sweets can cause obesity which is a major risk factor.

2.Not contagious. You can't pass it on to others other than by genetics.

3.Not caused by stress although stress does make the symptoms worse.

Type 1 Diabetes affects only 5 % of all diabetics. In my opinion it is by far the worst of the two types. In type 1 the cells that make insulin are destroyed - an auto immune reaction causing dependence on outside sources of insulin. There is no cure for type 1 diabetes.

In type 2 the cell receptors that respond to insulin either don't work at all or not very well causing insulin resistance. The most common risk factors for Type 2 Diabetes are age, sedentary lifestyle and being overweight. My money goes on the weight issue as the #1 cause. Heredity too is a huge part.

Type 2 Diabetes has been called a disease of lifestyle. It certainly was in my case. As with a lot of folks, as you get older your metabolism slows down, you start gaining weight, you are less active and more sedentary-a trifecta of reasons for the disease. Add in some unhealthy eating habits and you have the 'perfect storm' for Diabetes.

There is no cure for type 2. The good news is that it can be controlled and even prevented. HOW? You ask. Prevention is easy. Stay active, watch your diet and weight, and don't get older (just kidding). Once you have it, control is handled thru exercise, weight control, diet and if necessary medication. Control is absolutely necessary.

Bottom line IF YOU CAN AVOID IT-AVOID IT. Education is the key to dodging this bullet. Getting Diabetes is no picnic.

Diabetic Diet Plans

When you have diabetes, your body does not produce or correctly use the hormone, insulin. Insulin is important to your health, because it helps your body to convert sugar and starch into the energy you need to live. Some people are predisposed genetically to get diabetes, but for many people, diabetes is a weight related issue. For those people careful attention to diets for diabetics is necessary.

Over 7% of the population of the United States has been diagnosed with this disease. This translates to over twenty million adults and children that suffer with the effects of diabetes.

Diabetes is diagnosed into two categories; type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Type 1 is caused by the body's failure to produce insulin, the hormone that allows glucose to fuel the cells of the body. Approximately 5-10% of Americans who are diagnosed with diabetes have type 1 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is much more common. It is caused by insulin resistance. This means that even though the body is producing insulin, it fails to properly use the insulin that it makes. Type 2 diabetes can often successfully be controlled by diets for diabetics.

Some people that have diabetes are required to take a daily insulin treatment. Some people treat their diabetes with daily shots or oral medication. Whether or not you take medication to treat your diabetes, diets for diabetics are an important factor in controlling the disease. The amount of food you eat, when you eat, and what you eat can all work to control your blood sugar levels.

When you have diabetes, it is important that you eat the same types of foods in consistent amounts. Ideally, you should get 45% to 65% of your daily calories from carbohydrates, 15 to 20% of your daily calories from protein, and 20 to 35% of your calories from healthy fats. If you were to suddenly get 90% of your daily calories from carbohydrates, you would radically alter your blood sugar levels causing all sorts of problems.

It is also important to eat at regularly scheduled times. Waiting too long between meals can cause your blood sugar to drop. Eating too much food at one sitting and then skipping the next meal can also alter your blood sugar levels and cause you to have diabetic complications.

The most important thing that you can do to control your diabetes is pay careful attention to the foods that you put into your body. This doesn't mean that you have to stick to a regimented and highly restricted menu. It simply means that you need to eat a diet rich in primal foods. This means eating a diet that consists of natural and unprocessed foods such as vegetables, fruits and whole grains.

Some people have been even been able to successfully reverse the disease simply by eating a diet rich in primal foods. Instead of trying to observe a strict diabetic exchange diet that is a lot of work to calculate and maintain, many diabetics find that by choosing a healthy eating plan full of primal foods, they not only lose weight, but eradicate their diabetes.
